Great Wall

A newly negotiated peace with Russia has allowed the European Union to launch an attack into mainland China from the north. The EU forces hope to breach the Great Wall of China and establish a base for future operations before continuing south to the coast, but their supply lines are dangerously thin. If the Chinese forces can head off the assault and hold them back long enough, the EU will have no choice but to retreat back into Russia. It’s vital for them to link up with American forces attacking from the coast, or a sustained assault on China will be impossible!

General Tactics

High walls, ramparts, gates, Chinese buildings, steep steps, fog and a parachute jump on the 16player version make this map the most varied of the Euroforce maps.
16player is brilliant for infantry battles with lots of close, inner flags and a lack of vehicles. 32player starts with armour in the outside bases but inside the walls, no armour will spawn. Infantry fight it out along the ramparts between the 2 flags where snipers and assault rifles rule the day.
Place AT Mines at the wall entrances to keep out those tanks, and even if the engineers bail out to try to defuse the mines - they are easy pickings.
The 16player map with lots of players provides fast, furious and action packed gameplay. Parachute down as EU and land on the Walls to gain the height advantage and take the Quan Tower CP, allowing you to hit the PLA from behind.

Note that the EU Strike Point has two starting points: 1 on the ground and 1 as a parachute drop.

Great Wall Secrets & Quirks

Single Player Map Difference

With Euroforce comes the addition of different single player versions of the 16player maps. Although they aren’t covered in this guide, an overview of the map is shown below:

Single Player Great Wall

This map is totally different to the MP version! The EU are now attacking from the complete opposite side of the map, and a lot of the flags have moved too -as have the vehicle counts.

16 Player Map

The Fortress Village CP is quite interesting, in that it spawns the PLA mobile AA (PGZ-95) for the EU and NOT for the PLA (no vehicle will spawn in its place when the flag is PLA controlled).
Since the EU’s mobile AA on the other maps is the M6 Linebacker, this makes you wonder whether this was simply a coding error or DICE being different.
However, seeing as there are no airborne units on this map, why are they here? Unless they are meant to be used to shoot down EU paratroopers, it ponders the question as to whether this 16player version originally had helis in it.
Seeing as the PGZ-95 has pretty weak cannons, the actual effect on infantry is minimal, making the 16player version of Great Wall the most infantry oriented map in Euroforce

32 Player Map

The discovery of out-of-bounds helipads in actual built up villages provide us with a hint of what Great Wall may have originally had in the testing stages.
Whether this was for the attack helis (Tiger HAP and WZ-10) or even the non-existant transport helis in Euroforce - we shall never know.
Due to the location of the helipads, they are actually just outside the map limits of the 32player map, which is strange.
After looking through the localisation files for the booster packs, these can be found:
CP_32_GW_LiuShuChunVillage DELETED
CP_32_GW_WeiTianVillage DELETED
CP_64_GW_QuanFortress Quan Fortress
CP_64_GW_QuanCompound Quan Compound
CP_64_GW_HuangVillage Huang Village
CP_64_GW_CamYin Cam Yin
CP_64_GW_LaoSengHill Lao Seng Hill
CP_64_GW_LiuShuChunVillage Liu Shu Chun Village
CP_64_GW_WeiTianVillage Wei Tian Village
CP_64_GW_LaoTianYeRoad Lao Tian Ye Road

The actual names of the CP’s are still listed, with the helipad CP’s DELETED from the 32player version - although the missing 64player version CP’s are still listed (note that they aren’t listed for the other EF maps). So it appears as if both map sizes would have been exactly the same.
Perhaps the only difference may have been the types of helicopter? Unfortunatly, we shall never know.
You can also find the elusive EU transport helicopter:
KILLMESSAGE_VEHICLE_lynx DELETED

So, from this, we can pretty much determine that the helipads were meant to be included in the map, whether it be the 32player version or the original 64player version.
And, I can show you the overvew of the forgotten villages for what may have made this map include aerial assaults with paradrops or attack helis dominating the enemy armour, all over the Great Wall of China. What a thought :-)
