Local Rebels have reactivated an abandoned missile launch site in Kazakhstan and plan to launch a missile they have managed to piece together through acquisitions on the black market. The Spetsnaz are moving in to sabotage the launch site and clear out the insurgency.
SPETZNAZ VS REBELS
General Tactics
In a stereo-typical setting where you can almost imagine the Russians going up against a Rebel force, the Russian Spetznaz must take over this launch site to neutralise the threat of WMD’s being launched by the Rebel forces. Despite being quite dirty the map itself is a very stunning map from a graphics point of view.
It has to be said that DICE have done a very good job of setting the theme of this map, as they have done on Mass Destruction as well.
Quite a large, open map featuring a lot of vehicles. Although it includes helicopters on the 64 player version, there is an IGLA at 6 of the 8 flags to counter this with (and a Tunguska M1 for the Spetznaz). Armour does dominante on this map, although the Rebels RPG's do make it hard work for the tanks. The “Checkpoint” flag is more like a chokepoint for armour, which is very dangerous for them. AT mines, C4 and RPG’s work very well for the Rebels in this area, as the tanks cant get a high enough elevation on their gun to shoot at the top of the valley.
The map works well on both vehicles and Infantry Only (IO), although IO tends to end up in a snipe fest on most servers where its seen. Although that sounds a lot like Jalalabad, the Spetznaz have more opportunity to take flags by scaling the cliffs and hills to the rear flags.
