Positioned at key strategic locations around the maps of BF2 these weapon emplacements offer extra firepower to defending forces. Essentially these weapons are no different from their handheld counterparts (the USMC M249 (SAW), MEC RPK-74 and the Chinese Type 95) but being mounted on a fixed emplacement conveys three advantages:

• Improved stability increasing accuracy at an elevated position
• Unlimited ammunition (though still prone overheating)
• Hard cover behind the object the weapon is mounted on.

When using the mounted LMGs you can crouch behind the hard cover, this prevents you from being able to fire but offers total body protection from one side. The mounted LMG has approximately a 90-degree fire arc.
