AK-101
AK-101
AK-101 (GP-30)
Details
The AK-101 is an improved version of the AK-47. Being marginally more accurate overall than the AK-47 (lower multiple shot and recoil penalties), it also does a bit less damage. The AK-101 makes for an extremly deadly close-quarters combat weapon, and a very good medium and long range weapon in semi-auto mode when used in conjunction with the iron sight. Again, in full-auto mode the AK-101 will eat up ammo, so keep an eye on your ammo count.

In the 'real world'
The AK-101 was designed in Russia by Mikhail Kalashnikov for the Nato market and uses standard Nato 5.56 x 45 mm calibre cartridges. This rifle features three firing modes, semi, 3 shot bursts, and full auto and can fire 600 rpm. Used primarily for army forces the AK is a reliable weapon that uses modern materials and features a folding plastic stock, and a side mounting plate for optical attachments. This weapon is a good all rounder and will take out enemies close, medium, and at far range, when in the right mode but it will rapidly deplete it's ammo in full auto and so this has to be watched.
The GP-30 is an underbarrel grenade launcher used as an attachment for assault rifles like the AK family of weapons and it has been used by the Russian army since 1989. Based upon the GP-25 the GP-30 is lighter and more effective as well as being cheaper to produce than it's predecessor. It fires 40 mm calibre grenades in an arc and can be fired as a seperate entity from the gun it is attached to. Although very effective against infantry, especially those hiding round corners or behind low walls due to its splash damage effect, this weapon must not be fired at close range or it can be lethal to the user. Profiency with this weapon is achieved by understanding that you cannot aim directly at a target due to its parabolic flightpath. 1)
